WHEN TO MAINTAIN A COLOUR SPRAYED COURT
Colour, or acrylic sprayed courts are some of the most durable and lowest maintenance options available. However, they should still be resprayed every 5 to 6 years as it will naturally fade over time. Courts are typically painted in either two-tone green or red and green. Adding a layer of polyurethane binder to the painting process can also help to slow the deterioration of the paint and help maintain the life of the court by ensuring the adherence of the paint.
HOW ACRYLIC PAINT IS APPLIED
The first step in the process is to completely pressure wash the surface. If any weeds or moss are present they’ll have to be killed before any other work can begin. Removing weeds and pressure washing ensures a proper bond between the acrylic and the surface. Next, if the binder is being used it’s sprayed on to the surface. Finally, the paint is applied using a specialized lance which atomises the paint onto the surface. Due to the porous nature of the surface, the paint must be applied in very thin layers to ensure that the surface still drains properly.
